🎁Melasma is a type of skin hyperpigmentation characterized by brown-grayish patches with irregular borders, symmetrically distributed mostly on the face. It mainly affects women of childbearing age and is linked to a mix of hormonal factors, sun exposure, and genetic predisposition. It shows up as visible and persistent discolorations that disrupt the skin's even tone and tend to come back.
is an advanced clinical-cosmetic approach that combines specific technologies, personalized protocols, and prevention strategies to tackle the root causes of hyperpigmentation, reduce spots and discolorations, and restore skin’s radiance.
In the salon
The Melas treatment gradually retrains hyperpigmented skin through a series of precise stimulations that regulate inflammatory and melanogenic processes responsible for discolorations, selectively targeting the key points of pigment dysfunction without irritating or sensitizing the skin.

The melas protocol is an advanced dermocosmetic treatment designed to treat skin hyperpigmentation by acting on the biological causes that regulate its activation. It does not merely lighten visible spots, but intervenes at the three key cellular levels of the pigmentary process: the corneocyte, favoring selective and controlled desquamation of pigmented layers; the melanosome, modulating communication between skin layers and slowing down the synthesis of new melanin; the melanocyte, regulating inflammatory and neuro-cutaneous signals at the basis of melanogenic activation. Through the modulation of tyrosinase, enzymatic cofactors and melanogenic expression, the protocol promotes a progressive and measurable reduction of dyschromias, improving the uniformity and quality of the complexion in a stable way.
How do melasma and hyperpigmentation manifest?
Hyperpigmentation is the result of an overproduction of melanin associated with inflammatory phenomena, pigment accumulation and alteration of cutaneous chromatic distribution. Melasma is an acquired form of pigmentary disorder characterized by brownish-grey macules with irregular contours, generally symmetrical and located in photo-exposed areas of the face. It is more frequent in medium-dark phototypes, in the presence of intense or repeated sun exposure, hormonal factors and conditions of chronic low-grade inflammation. At the root is a complex interaction between light stimuli, inflammatory mediators and melanocyte hyperactivity.
Will the spots on my face go away?
The objective of the melas protocol is to progressively reduce dyschromias by intervening on the mechanisms that generate them, not just on the superficial effect. Through the modulation of melanin production, the control of inflammation and the management of oxidative stress, a gradual and more stable improvement over time is obtained. It is not an immediate and temporary effect, but a biological rebalancing process that requires consistency and correct home management.
I fear it is too aggressive for my skin.
The protocol uses peels and depigmenting active ingredients in controlled concentrations, inserted in a sequence designed to ensure a progressive and targeted action. The objective is not to force the skin, but to gradually re-educate the pigmentary mechanisms, preserving the integrity of the skin barrier.
When will I see the first results?
The times depend on the type, depth and chronicity of the spot. In some cases, the skin appears more radiant already after the first session; in more structured dyschromias, the improvement becomes progressively visible during the complete cycle.
How long will the results last?
The protocol acts on the processes that fuel dyschromias, favoring more stable results compared to a simple superficial lightening treatment. However, the duration depends crucially on daily photoprotection, consistent home care and the maintenance program. Hyperpigmentation has a natural tendency to recur if not controlled over time.
Is it a medical treatment?
No, melas is an advanced aesthetic treatment of clinical-dermatological inspiration. It does not require medical supervision, but is based on updated scientific evidence to guarantee safety and effectiveness.
Are there any contraindications?
The treatment is not indicated in pregnancy, breastfeeding, in the presence of active dermatological therapies or skin strongly irritated or sensitized by recent procedures. Each situation is still individually evaluated during the anamnesis phase.
Are there any risks?
The protocol is structured to operate in total safety and maximum effectiveness. During the protocol, transient mild redness, flaking or a temporary darkening of pigmented areas may occur. These are physiological responses related to the activation of renewal mechanisms and pigment mobilization.
Is the treatment painful?
No. In some phases you may feel tingling, warmth or slight skin tension. These are controlled and temporary sensations, associated with the biological activation of the tissue.
What should I expect after the session?
The skin may show slight flaking or a temporary intensification of the spot's color before its progressive fading. These are physiological signs of an ongoing process and indicate that the protocol is working correctly.
Can I stop the treatment if I see reactions?
It is not advisable to interrupt the protocol independently. Each skin response is interpreted by the Dermotechnologist and, if necessary, modulated. Continuity is essential to stabilize melanogenic regulation.
How many sessions are necessary?
The complete cycle of the melas protocol includes five consecutive sessions, on a weekly basis, to ensure continuity of stimulation and progressive control of melanocyte activity.
Can I undergo the treatment even if I am taking medication?
Some medications, particularly photosensitizing or hormonal ones, can influence pigmentation or skin reactivity. It is essential to communicate this during the anamnesis to evaluate any adaptations to the protocol.
What happens if I miss a session?
The weekly sequence is fundamental to maintain stable biological control of the pigmentary process. Any delays should be recovered as soon as possible so as not to interrupt the progression of the treatment.
Can I expose myself to the sun after the treatment?
Direct sun exposure must be avoided. Skin prone to hyperpigmentation remains biologically more reactive to light stimuli, and solar radiation is one of the main factors for reactivating spots. Daily photoprotection is indispensable not only in the 48 hours following, but for the entire duration of the protocol and in subsequent maintenance.
Is it also suitable in summer?
The protocol is not indicated during periods of intense or programmed sun exposure. If it were necessary to intervene in summer, the Dermotechnologist would carefully evaluate the situation and prescribe an extremely rigorous home program to minimize the risk of recurrence or worsening.
Can I combine other aesthetic treatments?
During the protocol, it is preferable not to overload the skin with other facial treatments. Any eventual integration must be evaluated by the Dermotechnologist to avoid interference with melanogenic control.
How long do I have to wait before waxing or epilating my face?
It is recommended to wait at least 48 hours after the session before performing any form of hair removal or epilation on the face.
I have undergone an aesthetic medicine treatment (botox, fillers, laser, needling, etc.): can I undergo the treatment?
The possibility of integrating the protocol depends on the type of treatment performed and the time elapsed. The Dermotechnologist will evaluate the skin conditions and define the safest modalities and timings.
Can I continue with my usual beauty routine at home?
The protocol includes a specific home program with MelanoGenix products, formulated to support and stabilize results. The use of incompatible cosmetics may reduce the effectiveness of the protocol or interfere with the active ingredients used.
Can I wear make-up after the treatment?
Yes, it is possible to apply make-up, preferably choosing dermatologically tested formulations compatible with sensitive skin prone to dyschromias, avoiding occlusive textures in the first hours.
